Kaddara (1921) is a danish opera about a young seal hunter from Greenland, whose wife is unhappy when he comes home without a catch, and sends him back out to the sea in his kayak. Bad idea! She nearly loses him over that... but we get to hear two hours of delightful music, very little known but worth the time.

Hosted by OperaEnthusiast: A breathtaking 1999 live recording of "Tristan und Isolde" from the Copenhagen opera.

Hosted by Stig Fogh Andersen: "Am stillen Herd" - a sample from a Wagner album on Spotify - see link farther down in the description. CAST: Stig Fogh Andersen, Tenor Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra Niels Borksand, Conductor Activate subtitles (german or english) to follow the text!

Hosted by Opera Enthusiast: Stig Fogh Andersen in a rare recording of Parsifal's big scene in the second act with Kundry. Subtitles in German and English. A little like "Tannhäuser", the opera plays in the field of tension between the ideal of chastity, apparently a requirement by the Holy Grail to work its miracles among the Grail's knights who populate the castle in a remote forest, and physical sensuality/sexuality, which for some reason has been coupled with evil black magic by Wagner.

Hosted by Stig Fogh Andersen: "Ein Schwert verhiess mir der Vater" - a sample from a "Ring" album on Spotify - see link farther down in the description. CAST: Stig Fogh Andersen, Tenor Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra Niels Borksand, Conductor Activate subtitles (german or english) to follow the text!
